Olympia Fields Paintings and Prints

Olympia Fields Country Club, in the southern suburbs of Chicago, was founded in 1915 and grew quickly into one of the largest private clubs in the country, at one time with four 18-hole courses. Its North Course, designed by the Scottish professional and architect Willie Park Jr., opened in the early 1920s and has hosted most of the club's championships.

The North Course is a parkland course laid over rolling ground, with Butterfield Creek winding through it and mature trees lining the fairways. Its greens are well bunkered and contoured, and a restoration in recent years returned elements of Park's original design. The Tudor-style clubhouse, with its clock tower, is one of the landmarks of Chicago golf.

Olympia Fields has hosted the U.S. Open twice, in 1928 and 2003, when Jim Furyk won. It also hosted the PGA Championship in 1925 and 1961, the 1997 U.S. Senior Open, the 2015 U.S. Amateur, the 2017 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, and the BMW Championship in 2020 and 2023.

At its height in the 1920s, Olympia Fields was known as the largest private golf club in the world, with four 18-hole courses, more than a thousand caddies and an English Tudor clubhouse whose clock tower could be seen from every first tee. The North was the fourth of those courses to be built.
