Muirfield Village Paintings and Prints

Muirfield Village Golf Club, in Dublin, Ohio, near Columbus, is Jack Nicklaus's course in the city where he grew up. He built it with Desmond Muirhead and named it after Muirfield in Scotland, where he won his first Open Championship in 1966. The course opened in 1974, and Nicklaus has continued to refine it ever since.

The course is laid out across rolling, wooded land with streams and ponds, and it was one of the first courses designed with spectators in mind: grass banks and hillsides around many greens create natural viewing areas. It is known for its immaculate conditioning, fast greens and a closing stretch that finishes below the clubhouse. The 18th, a par 4, climbs to a raised green protected by bunkers.

Since 1976 Muirfield Village has been home to the Memorial Tournament, which Nicklaus founded. It has also hosted the 1987 Ryder Cup, the first European victory on American soil, the 1992 U.S. Amateur, the 1998 Solheim Cup and the 2013 Presidents Cup, making it one of the few courses to have hosted both the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup.

Nicklaus bought the land in 1966, when he was 26, on ground where he had hunted as a boy, with the aim of giving Columbus a tournament of its own in the way Bobby Jones had given Augusta the Masters. Construction began in 1972, and in 1974 Nicklaus opened the course with an exhibition match against Tom Weiskopf. He has since remodeled every hole, some more than once.
